KILLIAN YOUNG beat the Kerry county board to the punch when it came to revealing the Kingdom’s new inter-county jersey for next season.

The All-Ireland winning defender posted a picture of the redesigned strip on Twitter last night, a week before the changes were due to be unveiled at an official launch.

The biggest change is the inclusion of a new crest, the details of which were released last month.

The county board were forced to commission a new design as it did not own the copyright on the version in use since 1988 and was losing revenue as a result. The new crest incorporates a number of traditional Kerry symbols including a crown, a ship with a Celtic Cross and a red deer.

The detail on the collar of the new jersey is thought to represent the inter-county titles won by the Kingdom, including their record haul of 36 All-Ireland Senior Football Championships.
