3 switches to Kerry side for trip to Donegal

The All-Ireland champions have yet to name their team and have a couple of injury worries to contend with.

DARRAN O’SULLIVAN, PETER Crowley and Michael Geaney have all been handed starting berths for Kerry’s trip to the North-West this weekend.

The Kingdom travel to face reigning All-Ireland champions Donegal after suffering defeats in their first three games in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League.

Crowley comes into the team at left half-back, with O’Sullivan and Geaney both picked in the full-forward line. Jonathan Lyne is named in the half-forward line, where he started against Kildare, while Michael O’Donoghue, Barry John Keane and Kieran O’Leary are the trio who drop to the bench.

KERRY: Brendan Kealy (Kilcummin); Marc Ó Sé (An Gaeltacht), Aidan O’Mahony (Rathmore), Shane Enright (Tarbert); Tomás Ó Sé (An Gaeltacht), Killian Young (Renard), Peter Crowley (Laune Rangers); Kieran Donaghy (Austin Stacks), Eoin Brosnan (Dr Crokes); Jonathan Lyne (Killarney Legion), Donnchadh Walsh (Cromane), Johnny Buckley (Dr Crokes); James O’Donoghue (Killarney Legion), Darran O’Sullivan (Glenbeigh/Glencar), Michael Geaney (Dingle).

Kerry’s substitute list contains youngsters like Mark Griffin, Jack Sherwood, Darragh O’Sullivan and Shane O’Carroll for the battle with Jim McGuinness’s team.

Manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice is forced to start without a litany of players with Declan O’Sullivan (back) and Anthony Maher (calf) recovering from injuries sustained in their recent league tie against Dublin.

Other players currently on the injured list include Colm Cooper, Bryan Sheehan, Paul Galvin, Patrick Curtin and Paul Geaney.

Subs: Brian Kelly (Killarney Legion), Kieran O’Leary (Dr Crokes),  Barry John Keane (Kerins O’Rahilly’s), Michael O’Donoghue (Spa), Fionn Fitzgerald (Dr Crokes), Brian Maguire (Listowel Emmetts), Andrew Garnett (Spa), Mark Griffin (St Michaels/Foilemore), Jack Sherwood (Firies), Darragh O’Sullivan (Dingle), Shane O’Carroll (Austin Stacks).

Opponents Donegal have yet to name their team and have two main injury worries to contend with. Allstar winning midfielder Neil Gallagher has suffered a recurrence of a troublesome hamstring injury in the wake of last Sunday’s defeat to Tyrone in Omagh.

Glenswilly player Gallagher notably lined out in the novel position of full-forward last weekend and was sent-off in the closing stages after being shown a second yellow card.

Mark McHugh is the other worry for Jim McGuinness’s men after he limped off with a calf injury in the closing stages of the clash in Healy Park. Naomh Conaill forward Dermot ‘Brick’ Molloy replaced the Kilcar forward.

Jamie Clarke is off on his travels…but he’ll be back soon
