Khan offered rematch as mystery official is named

The unidentified man that the boxer complained about has been revealed to be IBF official Mustafa Ameen.

MEMBERS OF AMIR Khan’s camp say he has been offered a rematch following suspicious behaviour from an IBF official during his recent controversial loss to Lamont Peterson.

And following complaints from Khan on Twitter, the chief executive officer of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, has explained that the man – who has since been named as Mustafa Ameen – was given accreditation for the fight despite not being directly involved in it.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Schaefer said:

“His name is Mustafa Ameen and the IBF have confirmed to us his name, and they have confirmed to us that he’s involved in an official capacity with the IBF.

“However, he was not in Washington in an official IBF capacity, but the IBF asked the Washington commission to issue him a credential so that he could attend the fight.”

Schaefer also claimed Khan had been offered a rematch by the WBA and was hopeful that the outcome of the fight could be changed to a “no contest” decision, enabling Khan to retain his IBF and World Boxing Association titles.
