KIERAN MCGEENEY’S INTEREST in mixed martial arts is no secret.

The Armagh boss is a close friend and student of coach John Kavanagh, and has been training at the world-renowned Straight Blast Gym in Dublin for eight years, where he also coaches a class in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

This evening, McGeeney was cageside at BAMMA 30 in Dublin’s 3Arena as the cornerman for SBG fighter Ben Forsyth.

Forsyth, who started the night with a 2-2 record, was up against English light-heavyweight Matt Clempner on the prelim card.

The night was short-lived for Forsyth and McGeeney, though, as Clempner sank in an inverted triangle choke which forced the referee to stop the fight inside two minutes of the opening round.
