The reviews of Kim Kardashian's selfie book are in, and they don't hold back

Her selfie book is out this week, but what is it really like?

KIM KARDASHIAN HAS finally released her book of selfies to her waiting public this week.

The book – titled Selfish - is the selfie photography of Kim Kardashian West, promising “never-before-seen personal images” of the star.

But what have the reviews been like?

Not going to look clever on anyone’s coffee table

kimk Guardian Guardian

The Guardian couldn’t have been less enthusiastic about it, anyway:

Selfish is not going to look clever on anyone’s coffee table, but it may actually be perused with a lot of pleasure by the people who buy it. Not just for the carnal fullness, but the sense of encounter. We crave some oversharing in a cold world.

Smart and calculated

selfish1 Complex Complex

But Complex seem to think the book has more to it than meets the eye:

a look through the pages of Selfish reveals that what may seem insipid and overblown initially is actually a far smarter, more calculated window into the life and times of one of our culture’s most relevant public figures through the simple, albeit absurd, art of documenting herself.

An enchanting document

selfish2 Telegraph Telegraph

The Telegraph was also pretty upbeat about the whole experience:

It should be dreadful, but it isn’t. Surprisingly, it’s a rather enchanting document of someone having a jetset life (sample caption: “I was in Africa in a diamond mine”) and not being overly protective about her image (one page is devoted entirely to photographs of her with sunburn after she fell asleep wearing sunglasses).

Enough boob to capture your attention

Stylecaster were less than positive in their assessment though:

In reality, “Selfish” is a diminutive book by coffee table standards—just 7 inches long by 5 inches wide—deliberately selfie sized. The cover is where the book shines, a cool shot of Kardashian, deliberately minimalist in its styling, and enough boob to capture your attention. Open up the book and, well, things go downhill almost immediately.

So, there you have it.

Kim herself probably isn’t reading them by the looks of things:
