IRELAND HOOKER LEAH Lyons has made the move to Harlequins ahead of the upcoming Tyrrells Premier 15s season.
It comes as an interesting switch for the 23-year-old, who’s a key member of Adam Griggs’ Ireland side and has plied her trade at Highfield RFC and Munster over the years.
The English outfit announced the news yesterday, along with the capture of Scotland international Jade Konkel, stating that ‘with experience of women’s rugby at the top-level, the two forwards can bring further class to an elite group of forwards already at the club.’
And Lyons shared her own delight at the move:
“Coming into the club with this group of internationals is brilliant,” the Cork native said.
“I’ll be learning a lot from them and hopefully they’ll learn something from me too. We’ll put it all together on the pitch.
Very excited for the season ahead and signing with @HarlequinsWomen . Looking forward to the season to start! Great to get the opportunity to play with this club 😁🃏 #Harlequins #newseason #wrugby #womensrugby #excited #letsgo https://t.co/qlQKTyJawG

“I watched a few Tyrrells Premier 15 matches when I was over in Ireland, especially the final against Saracens. They were very tough matches, and I’m expecting big contact and physical encounters.”
Harlequins kick off their Tyrrells Premier 15s campaign away to Gloucester-Harpury on Sunday 8 September, while three of their first four home matches will be played at the Twickenham Stoop with two acting as double-headers with the men’s side.
