Leinster fighting fit for Clermont trip

Joe Schmidt has no major injury worries ahead of Sunday’s Heineken Cup trip to French giants Clermont Auvergne.

LEINSTER TRAINED IN UCD this afternoon with no major injury concerns ahead of the opening act in their Heienken Cup double bill against Clermont Auvergne.

The European champions travel to the Stade Marcel Michelin on Sunday afternoon hoping to end the French giants’ 50-game unbeaten streak at home, and Joe Schmidt looks set to have a full-strength panel at his disposal.

Sean O’Brien and Jonny Sexton, who were replaced at half-time in the 37-7 win against Pro12 new boys Zebre, will take a full part in training this week as will Damien Browne who suffered a cut about his right eye.

Ireland internationals Jamie Heaslip and Richardt Strauss also trained today. Both players were rested for Saturday’s game in the RDS following their involvement in the November Series internationals.

Schmidt will name his starting XV on Friday at lunchtime.

Meanwhile ticket sales for the second part of the back-to-back double header on Saturday 15 December in the Aviva Stadium have passed the 42,000 mark.
