Wins for Laois and Wexford in Leinster MHC as they march on to semi-finals

They will now face Dublin and Kilkenny respectively.

LAOIS AND WEXFORD progressed to the Leinster MHC semi-finals earlier with wins over Meath and Offaly respectively.

Wexford are now set to face holders Dublin, while Laois will meet Kilkenny in two weeks time.

The game between Laois and Meath was a game of two halves, and one which the wind played a huge factor in.

Playing with a massive breeze, the hosts had a significant 1-16 to 0-5 lead at half-time in O’Moore Park. Star forward Ciaran Comerford hit the goal. He went on to score 1-7.

Brian Dowling then helped the Royals produce a spirited second half comeback as he rattled the net. They hit six consecutive scores as the clock ran down, but Laois held on and the difference in the end was five points.

Meanwhile, Wexford were dominant on their home turf as they defeated Offaly 2-17 to 1-13. A first-half Jack Devereux goal had them well in control, before Charlie McGuckin doubled their goal tally after the break.

Offaly scored a late goal but the game finished 2-17 to 1-13.

Leinster MHC quarter-final results:

  • Wexford 2-17 Offaly 1-13
