Welcome to the FA Cup Fourth Round three o’clocks. Let’s be honest, the most attractive ties of this round have already been played. But that’s not to say there isn’t intrigue. The one to watch is Bolton v Swansea and we’ll be majoring on that here while keeping an eye on all the action everywhere else.
GOAL! Derby 0-1 Stoke City
Cameron Jerome kicks off the scoring by keeping up his fine form. He nods in from close range as Derby concede their first goal in four games.
GOAL! Leicester City 1-0 Swindon Town
Jermaine Beckford is unmarked to put Leicester into the lead. Paolo Di Canio is kicking and screaming on the line.
Swansea currently in control at the Reebok Stadium, although David N’Gog should have given Bolton the lead.
GOAL! Sheffield United 0-1 Birmingham City
Livewire youngster Nathan Redmon gives Birmingham the lead after good work from Jordan Mutch to set him up.
At Pride Park, Stoke just hit the post. It’s a lively game this one.
GOAL! Millwall 0-1 Southampton
Rickie Lambert heads in Dan Harding’s cross to give the Championship high-flyers the lead.
Lively game at Bloomfield Road between Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday, where hoth Ryan Lowe and Kevin Phillips could have scored. In truth, though, that’s in contrast to most of the games. It’s been a very slow fourth round so far.
GOAL! West Brom 0-1 Norwich
In the battle of the Premier League sides,Grant Hoult heads in Elliott Bennett’s cross to give Norwich the lead.
GOAL! Sheffield United 0-2 Birmingham City
That gives Birmingham clear daylight: Adam Rooney finishes from out left.
GOAL! Bolton 0-1 Swansea City
Luke Moore shakes off David Wheater to fire past Adam Bogdan and give Swansea the lead, but…
GOAL! Bolton 1-1 Swansea City
… but former Swansea player Darren Pratley almost immediately hits back to equalise, heading in from Martin Petrov’s cross. Illustrating class, he refuses to celebrate.
Half-times everywhere. Not too enlivening so far.
The second halves are under way.
GOAL! Blackpool 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Clinton Morrison breaks the deadlock at Bloomfield Road, pouncing on a loose ball.
GOAL! West Brom 1-1 Norwich City
West Brom get back into it. A mistake by Russell Martin allows Jerome Thomas to set up Marc-Antoine Fortune.
GOAL! Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Swansea
Bolton take the lead through Chris Eagles. An awful error from Gerhard Tremmel allows him in.
GOAL! Sheffield United 0-3 Birmingham City
And that should be that. Wade Elliott’s 20-yard effort is deflected in off Harry Maguire/.
GOAL! Hull City 0-1 Crawley Town
Matt Tubbs strikes at the KC to set up a potential upset!
GOAL! Leicester City 2-0 Swindon Town
And Jermaine Beckford increases Paolo Di Canio’s anger. That’s five in three games for the striker having previously failed to buy a goal. Leicester fans joking about how they should tell Jermain Beckford that every game is an FA Cup game.
So far then, the big result of the day is likely to come at the KC Stadium where Crawley Town are beating Hull City 1-0. It’ll be the second time in two years Crawley make the fifth round. Otherwise, almost everything else going as expected, although Bolton have come from behind to lead against Swansea in one of two Premier League ties.
GOAL! Sheffield United 0-4 Birmingham
Sheffield United vacate the stadium as Adam Rooney makes it a thrashing with his second of the game. Awell-worked goal.
GOAL! Derby County 0-2 Stoke City
Robert Huth heads in Jermaine Pennant’s corner to kill off Derby. It had been coming.
GOAL! Millwall 1-1 Southampton
Darius Henderson pulls Millwall back into the game with a super run and finish!
GOAL! West Brom 1-2 Norwich
Simeon Jackson takes advantage of a defensive error to give Norwich the lead and surely a place in the fifth round.
GOAL! Blackpool 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Blackpool must have assured a replay now as Kevin Phillips wallops home a penalty.
Crawley just about hanging on at Hull as that potential upset enters injury time.
Late drama at the KC as Hull have a penalty for a perceived handball in the area disallowed! Crawley hang on though!
And that’s it. Full-times everywhere now. Not exactly the most sparkling Saturday afternoon but we did at least see an upset with Crawley Town again overturning the odds by beating Hull. Elsewhere, Bolton got the better of Swansea and Norwich won away at Sheffield Wednesday.
In that sense, there could be potential for a completely open 2008-style FA Cup. Both Manchester clubs are now out and more Premier League sides fell. Or, one of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs could just win it.
We’ll be back shortly with Brighton v Newcastle.
