This was the moment when Ireland started to believe again

It’s the hope that kills you.

Updated 16.20

17-0 DOWN AFTER just 12 minutes, Ireland were facing an impossible task in their Rugby World Cup quarter-final against Argentina.

It was Luke Fitzgerald, sent on to replace the injured Tommy Bowe, who provided the crucial spark in the 26th minute.

He turned on the afterburners and raced away to score Ireland’s first try, leaving the country daring to dream once again.

It’s the hope that kills you though, eh?
