City kit man Les "Chappy" Chapman shows off his best Klinsmann.
Wet wet wet

Man City make the most of 'swimming pool' pitch by doing Klinsmann dives

Weather update from Hong Kong: it’s still wet.

WHEN LIFE GIVES you lemons, make lemonade; when life gives you weather that turns your football pitch into a swimming pool, go for a swim.

Playing conditions at the Barclays Asia Trophy were a major talking point on Wednesday when torrential rain rendered the Hong Kong Stadium almost unplayable in places.

The deluge was so bad that the games between Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City and South China, were delayed and then shortened to 40 minutes a half with an eight-minute break for half-time.

The weather doesn’t look like it’s going to get much better ahead of the final two games tomorrow, with City due to meet Sunderland in the final at 1.30pm Irish time.

Rather than sit around and moan, City made the most of their lot at training this morning with kit man Les Chapman leading the way in the ‘Klinsmann dives’, quickly followed by Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart.
