Man stabbed in the heart after 'bumping into someone while texting'

Toronto Police say the man he bumped into “took exception at a perceived slight and attacked the victim”.

POLICE IN CANADA are investigating after a man was stabbed in the heart after he inadvertently bumped shoulders with someone while he was texting as he walked down a street.

Toronto Police say that the man he bumped into “took exception at a perceived slight and attacked the victim”.

The 33-year-old tried to defend himself from the attack, which was carried out by two men, but was stabbed in the heart.

He was taken to hospital where he is in a critical condition.

One man who was involved in the attack was arrested shortly after it happened at approximately 12.30am today (5.30am GMT). Mohamed Ali, 27, of Toronto was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

However police are still hunting for the second man who was involved with the attack. They have released an image of him in a bid to get help from the public in tracking him down.

The National Post reports that the 33-year-old victim is due to undergo a second round of surgery today.
