Ibrahimovic is available after confirming his PSG departure, but could cost United in the region of €30 million in various payments in a proposed two-year deal.
2. John Stones
The Everton defender didn’t have the best of seasons after Mourinho tried unsuccessfully to sign him for Chelsea last summer, but his interest remains, despite the 21-year-old centre-back’s recent unconvincing form, though Manchester City and Barcelona are also rumoured to be interested.
3. Karim Benzema
Benzema previously worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid, and the 28-year-old forward would be a welcome boost to a forward line lacking experience, with the Special One reportedly identifying the French striker as a priority transfer target.
4. Cristiano Ronaldo
Persistently linked with a return to United, the move still appears a long way off, with the Portuguese star recently saying: “I think I’m going to retire at Real Madrid.” He is also rumoured to have an £80 million asking price.
5. Alvaro Morata
The 23-year-old Spanish international Alvaro Morata is likely to be one of the most in-demand stars this summer, with Arsenal as well as United considering a move for the player. Rumours also suggest Real Madrid could trigger the Juventus star’s buy-back clause of £23.6 million, before selling him on for a higher fee.
6. Joao Mario
23-year-old Sporting midfielder Joao Mario is expected to be playing at a higher level sooner rather than later, with Chelsea also hoping to sign him.
7. Sadio Mane
Mane had another impressive season with Southampton, with the attacker scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances. Mourinho is said to be among his many admirers.
8. Paul Pogba
Re-signing Pogba would be a huge coup for United, after they famously failed to keep hold of the player in 2012, as he left on a free transfer to Juventus. He’ll certainly command a big fee if he does move on this time, with Chelsea again being another rumoured suitor.
