MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE been knocked out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Swansea at Old Trafford.
The shock will only add to the pressure on David Moyes in Manchester, as Michael Laudrup’s side advance to the fourth round to take on Birmingham, Bristol Rovers or Crawley. A red card to replacement Fabio proved costly as Wilfred Bony took advantage to score a 90th minute winner for the Swans.
It was the visitors who got off to the brighter start, when Wayne Routledge gave Michael Laudrup’s side the lead in the 12th minute. A weighted through ball from Alejandro Pozuelo split United’s centre backs, and Routledge finished by chipping over the stranded Anders Lindegaard.

However, Moyes’ side didn’t take long to react to the opening goal, with Javier Hernandez equalising just four minutes later. The Mexican striker was on the receiving end of a wonderful Alex Buttner cross and made no mistake from close range.

United had several other decent chances either side of the break, but it was Swansea who were the better team in the second half. Laudrup’s men looked dangerous on the break and played with their usual neatness in possession.
Fabio made matters more difficult for United when he was red carded for a shocking lunge in the 80th minute. The Brazilian wing back had only been on the pitch briefly after coming on as a substitute, meaning Moyes well regret his personnel switch.

It was Bony who got on the end of a Routledge cross to score the late winner, condemning United to an early exit from the cup. Routledge bypassed Darren Fletcher down the left before swinging the ball into the muscular striker to head home.
