PHIL JONES SCORED his third goal of the season to give Manchester United a half-time lead over West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The home-side, looking to do the double over the Premier League champions for the first time in more than 30 years, have been on the back foot for much of the opening half and were lucky not to go behind on the half-hour mark when Ben Foster did really well to keep out Rafael’s header.
However, there was nothing the former United goalkeeper could do when Phil Jones got on the end of Robin van Persie’s inch-perfect delivery just five minutes later:
United doubled their lead in the 65th minute thanks to another header, this time from Wayne Rooney:
