The studs-up 'tackle' that earned Mario Mandzukic a red card against Iceland

But the Croats are on the way to Brazil.

THIS ONE DESERVED a straight red, a couple of yellows and a summons if you ask us.

Our old friend from Poznan, Mario Mandzukic first put Croatia a goal to the good against Iceland in their World Cup qualification playoff tie before doing this to Johann Gudmundsson.

Croatia secured their berth at next year’s World Cup with a 2-0 win in their play-off second leg however. With last week’s first leg goalless Iceland arrived in Zagreb full of hope at becoming the smallest ever country to make it to a World Cup.

But those dreams were extinguished with goals from Mario Mandzukic in the 27th minute and Darijo Srna’s 47th minute contribution.

Croatia are appearing at their fourth World Cup finals after the editions of 1998, 2002 and 2006.
