Mattie McGrath: 'I could use the C-word about NAMA'

The Tipperary TD claimed the bad bank is “relentlessly terrorising a widow in his county”.

MATTIE MCGRATH TOOK his opportunity in the Dáil this week to talk not only about Enda Kenny but also NAMA and the banks.

In a statement yesterday, the Tipperary TD said he refrained from using the ‘C word’ to refer to the so-called bad bank out of deference to the House.

He said he was disappointed about what NAMA is “doing to ordinary families”, giving some details about a woman in his constituency.

“[NAMA] is relentlessly terrorising a widow in my county whose late husband ended his own life in circumstances directly related to these kinds of activities.

“Will the Taoiseach call off the hound dogs of NAMA and the officials and ask them to stop terrorising that decent family in County Tipperary, of whom he should be aware and should know?

“The Minister of State, Deputy Tom Hayes, and others know the family. It is a shame and disgrace.”

He also said that NAMA “stinks and is rotten to the core”.

NAMA said it would not comment on the Deputy’s speech or statement.

Here is his speech, in full:
