Cavan appoint former county player as new senior football boss

Michael Graham played with Cavan during the 2000s and replaces Mattie McGleenan at the helm.

MICHAEL GRAHAM WILL take over from Mattie McGleenan as the new Cavan senior football manager.

Graham, who represented the county at senior level in the past, was ratified at a county committee meeting last night.

The Cavan Gaels clubman led Mullinalaghta to back-to-back Longford SFC titles in 2016 and 2017. He was previously in charge of the Cavan minors and also delivered Cavan junior and intermediate football crowns as manager of Butlersbridge & Drumalee.

Cavan GAA Games Development Manager and former All-Star Dermot McCabe will join Graham’s backroom team along with Monaghan native Martin Corey. The remainder of his management set-up has yet to be finalised.

“We take this opportunity to wish Mickey and his management team every success in their new role as Cavan look forward to returning to Division One of the Allianz Football League in 2019,” a brief statement from Cavan GAA said.
