Which baby names are most common on first passports?

What’s in a name? If you’re a Jack, a lot.

THE DEPARTMENT OF Foreign Affairs has released the most popular names on first passports, with Emily and Jack leading the way.

The two names have been around the top of Irish baby names for some time and now it appears they’re taking their popularity abroad.

The DFA list shows that Emily, Emma, Aoife, Sophie and Grace lead the list of girls names, each having over 360 registrations for children under three.

In boys names, Jack remains the runaway leader, with 600 passports issued last year.

Jacks are joined by James, Daniel, Conor and Adam at the top.

Irish names feature sparingly in both sexes top 20s, with just Caoimhe and Aoife on the girls list and Cillian, Cian, Oisín and Darragh on the boys.

The members of One Direction make appearances, with the exception of Zayn, with Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall all having at least 49 passports issued.

Kai, the name given to the son of Wayne and Colleen Rooney, makes the list, with 57 passports issued to children with that name.

However, other celebrity names such as Apple, Brooklyn and Moon Unit fail to break the list.

The full list can be seen here.
