Movember power rankings: this year’s best sporting mos, #20-#11

Before we bid farewell to those beloved mos for another 11 months, here are the sports stars who really impressed us this Movember.

ALL MONTH, THE good and the great of sport have been growing their facial hair to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues.

Some mos have been good, some mos have been bad, and some have been downright ridiculous (they’re our favourites).

Movember officially ends on Sunday but before we sharpen those razors, we need to find our champion.

Will it be Cian Healy or Shane Lowry? Does TV3′s Tommy Martin have an outside shout? Or will a complete outsider steal the show?

To begin, we count down those who just missed out on a place in the top 10. Check back tomorrow morning for part two.

1 / 10
  • 20. Colin Griffin

Olympic race walker Colin Griffin kept it nice and simple with a mo and soul patch combo. The kind of mo you could wear.
  • 19. Jordi Murphy

'Facial fangs' are a new one to us so Leinster's Jordi Murph scores highly for his innovation.
  • 18. Darren Nolan & the Oulart-the-Ballagh hurlers

  • 17. Martin Storey

... and even though manager Martin Storey probably hasn't been clean shaven since the glory days of the 90s, he is letting his mo grow a little bit longer this month. We're willing to bend the rules for a mustachioed legend.Source: ©INPHO/James Crombie
  • 16. Ger Gilroy

Pictured here with an unidentified fan, Off the Ball host Ger Gilroy is in at number 16 with his handlebar.
  • 15. Darragh Fanning

Leinster's Darragh Fanning made his power rankings debut last week and despite this smear campaign, sent in to us by @official_briano, we're leaving him on the list.
  • 14. Kieran McSweeney

Growing an outrageous mo is one thing; wearing it on national TV every night is another thing entirely. We doff our cap to TV3 sports guy Kieran McSweeney.
  • 13. Tom Cunniffe

How -- HOW? -- has Mayo footballer Tom Cunniffe got his mo so symmetrical?
  • 12. Mitchell Johnson

The English might not like Aussie cricketer Mitchell Johnson at the moment but he's channelling his inner Freddy Mercury for a good cause.
  • 11. Luke Fitzgerald

Luke Fitz falls just short of a place in this year's top 10 which tells you all you need to know about the quality that lies in store tomorrow.Source: ©INPHO/Dan Sheridan
