Kilmacud Sevens: Mullagh take senior prize back out west

Mullagh won the senior competition at the 40th annual Kilmacud Crokes hurling sevens in Dublin on Saturday.

MULLAGH MADE SURE that at least one All-Ireland title will be heading out west this weekend, beating county rivals Gort to win the Kilmacud Crokes Sevens on Saturday.

Ahead of Sunday’s Croke Park showdown against Kilkenny, Galway dominated the senior competition in Dublin, filling all four semi-final spots in the senior competition.

Kiltormer and Beagh impressed through the group stages to book their place in the semis but it was Mullagh who took home the top prize following a 9-09 to 7-08 win against Gort in the final.

In the U13 competition Clarinbridge made it a Galway double, beating Cork side Douglas in a thrilling final, while Eire Og Currahill of Kildare beat Eoghan Rua of Tyrone in the shield final.

As part of the celebrations to mark the 40th edition of the annual tournament, captains from each of the winning clubs in the senior competition were presented with a commemorative medallion and pennant for their club.
