And we’re off…

Anthony Maher has scored the first point of the game with an audacious attempt from distance, and Alan O’Connor has ensured an immediate Cork response with a free.

Darran O’Sullivan has scored his first – and probably not his last – point of the game, following a purposeful run.

And lo and behold, Darran O’Sullivan scores another point, after a smart turn away from his marker.

Cork’s profligacy in front of goal has just been epitomised by a hopeful effort from Colm O’Neill, which he slices well wide.

A wonderful pass from O’Sullivan finds Kieran Donaghy, and the big man makes no mistake, adding to his side’s advantage.

Kerry have utterly dominated these  opening stages, and are looking very impressive at the moment.

If anything, Kerry should be further ahead, as they’ve racked up a couple of wides already.

The score has stood at 0-1 to 0-6 for quite a while now, with both sides passing up decent chances.

Graham Canty bursts through on goal and, with only the keeper to beat, finds the wrong side of the post. That was a gilt-edged opportunity to get Cork back in the game.

Declan O’Sullivan finally breaks the considerable lull in the action, with a score that gives Kerry a six-point advantage.

A very well-taken point from Aidan Walsh gives Cork hope, as half-time approaches.

HALF TIME: CORK 0-2 KERRY 0-8

Kerry have controlled the game so far without really getting out of second gear.

Cork, in contrast, have been very disappointing. The Rebels rarely threatened Jack O’Connor’s side in that first half, and when they have, they’ve invariably registered a wide.

The second half  is underway…

Cork have started the half well, scoring another point, though as I type, Fintan Gould somehow shoots wide from close range.

Barry John Keane fires over, and the umpire takes his time, before eventually deciding it was indeed between the posts.

Graham Canty gets another point for Cork. They’ve definitely been the better team in this second half so far.

Declan O’Sullivan hits a nicely executed point from distance, as Kerry look to pick up the pace once more.

Paul Galvin extends Kerry’s lead, after some nice build-up play by Darran O’Sullivan.

Fintan Gould keeps Cork’s slim hopes of victory alive, with a point from distance.

Just over ten minutes remaining, and Cork don’t really look like getting back into it at the moment.

There’s been a bit of handbags, resulting in a stern talking to from the official, directed at Paul Galvin and Noel O’Leary.

Some nice passing by Cork allows Aidan Walsh to find space and strike it over the bar. And suddenly, Cork are only three points behind their opponents.

And Canty has just missed another one-on-one with the keeper, hitting it straight at his legs.

A wonderful point from Bryan Sheehan affords Kerry some breathing space.

Donncha O’Connor gets another point for Cork, but surely it’s too little too late.

FULL TIME: CORK 0-11 KERRY 0-13

Noel O’Leary sliced it wide with the last kick of the game, ensuring Cork would not secure a dramatic late  victory.

Okay, that’s it from me. Thanks for reading.
