THERE WAS ANOTHER victory for Willie Mullins at the Galway Festival, as Nessun Dorma claimed the Guinness Handicap on Friday.
Ridden by Billy Lee, the 14/1 shot had to work for the victory, with Princess Yaiza putting up a strong challenge but Nessun Dorma held firm to win by a neck in the end.
The result meant that former Cheltenham winner Limini had to settle for minor honours for the second time at this year’s Festival after losing out at the Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap. Nessun Dorma’s win pushed Limini into third place on Friday.
Speaking after the race, Willie Mullins is quoted by RTÉ Sport as saying:
“He’s improved a bit since his last run in Ballinrobe and Billy gave him a super ride in front.
“He waited in front and he just kept a little bit up his sleeve – it was a very good ride.”
