Baby found at industrial estate was a day old

A renewed appeal for the mother to see medical attention has been issued.

THE MOTHER OF a newborn baby girl found yesterday in Dublin has not yet been located, with gardaí issuing a fresh appeal for her to seek medical attention.

The newborn was found covered in a plastic bag at an industrial estate in Rathcoole yesterday afternoon

Gardaí say the child was fed and nourished, and is in a stable condition at Tallaght Hospital.

Doctors believe the baby was born between 24 and 36 hours prior to being found on Steelstown Road.

Superintendent Brendan Connolly from Clondalkin Garda Station said:

Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of the mother of this child and are appealing for her to seek immediate medical treatment and to contact Gardaí who are anxious to reunite her with her baby. Gardai will deal with this matter with the utmost sensitivity and care for both mother and child.

Gardaí are working closely with the HSE on the case.

Gardaí have asked anyone with information regarding the mother and/or the newborn child. or who may have been in the vicinity of Steelestown Road yesterday afternoon prior to 3.30pm, to contact Gardaí at Clondalkin on 01 6667600, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
