THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL League will air a tribute to Steve Sabol before each game this weekend.
Sabol, president of NFL Films, died Tuesday morning after a lengthy battle with cancer.
During his life, Sabol – along with his father Ed – revolutionised how American football was covered and took it upon himself to ensure NFL Films covered game days as works of art rather than sporting events.
Indeed, Sabol was personally credited on more than a third of the company’s 107 Emmy Awards for productions like America’s Game.
According to the league’s official website, “there will be a brief video tribute” prior to kickoff in every NFL Stadium and will include examples of his work such as the famous ‘Autumn Wind’ clip below.
