FIVE AIRTRICITY PLAYERS joined up with the Irish senior team for training in Malahide this afternoon.

Dundalk quartet Richie Towell, Kurtis Byrne, Andy Boyle and John Sullivan as well as Shamrock Rovers defender David Elebert were all invited along to take part in today’s session by caretaker manager Noel King.

The reason behind their  temporary inclusions was to assist with an 11 v 11 tactical session and none of the players will travel to Cologne with the 23-man squad.

The FAI tweeted:

I hope they enjoyed it,” King said after training. “I’ve done that myself — as a League of Ireland player come into an international squad. At the U21 level I bring in other lads as well.

“They’re doing us a favour which is great. I think they did enjoy it, so that’s the trade-off. We’ll give them a bit of dinner as well,” he joked.
