Poll: Was Warren Gatland right to drop Brian O'Driscoll?

Is O’Driscoll past it? Or has the pressure finally taken its toll on Gatty’s brain?

SOME MORNINGS, YOU wake up to good news. Christmas, for instance, or last week when we rolled over to hear Tommy Bowe was back in the Lions squad.

Others, you’re told something that shakes you out of a normal stumble around the presses looking for milk and shout at the T.V – like any time we hear of Paul O’Connell getting injured.

Brian O’Driscoll has been dropped.

Obviously though, there is sentiment involved on this island. We’ve watched O’Driscoll’s so closely that sometimes we’re not stood far enough back to see that lesser players have some things going for them.

Jonathan Davies will wear the number 13 shirt while Manu Tuilagi will provide midfield support on the bench. These are young centres with excellent athleticism and, maybe, at the end of a long, hard season that makes them a better option than O’Driscoll.

What do you think?
