O'Sullivan asks county board for 'help' in International Rules dilemma

The Kerry star is still hoping to be able to travel to Australia for the forthcoming series.

KERRY STAR DARRAN O’Sullivan has still not given up hope of representing Ireland in the International Rules series, despite indicating that his priorities were with his club yesterday.

After the club’s request to bring their final forward a week as a means of accommodating O’Sullivan was rejected, it seemed as if there was no hope of the player featuring in the International Rules series.

However, earlier today he indicated that the dilemma could still be resolved, as he tweeted:

“Haven’t given up hope on travelling to Oz with Ireland, still hoping the county board will help me out! Would love to get the chance to play.”

Nonetheless, it still seems unlikely that O’Sullivan will feature, after selector Kevin O’Brien ruled him out.

The Kerry County Board were unavailable for comment when contacted by TheScore.ie.

Meanwhile, other players in Anthony Tohill’s current squad, including Stephen Cluxton, have been confronted with similar dilemmas and may also be forced to choose between club and country, but no one has been ruled out as of yet.
