A SURVEY OF Irish workers and jobseekers has shown that over half of the population are positive about the government’s jobs initiative, announced last week.
The IrishJobs.ie survey found that 55 per cent of respondents were positive about the plan, though they remained ambivalent about whether the initiative would actually create jobs.
Three-quarters of respondents to the survey, meanwhile, were agreed that not enough was being done to try and create new jobs.
The recruitment website’s quarterly Positivity Index also showed that 85 per cent of people in Ireland believed they could handle whatever jobs news came their way, with 70 per cent saying they had a strong network of people in their lives who they could count on to see them through any difficult time.
54 per cent of people said they were optimistic about life in general, and almost half said they were in control over the circumstances that shaped their lives.
Female respondents were tended to be happier than men, possibly down to their typically stronger networks of families and friends, though male respondents were more optimistic about their opportunities and more confident about handling job setbacks.
IrishJobs.ie’s Valerie Sorohan said the results of the index were “testimony to the remarkable level of resilience among people in Ireland and the strong support networks that reinforce this.”
