Troubles mount for Irish rugby as Jackson and Gilroy need jump-start

“You’ve got to be starting something”

THE LAST HASSLE Paddy Jackson and Craig Gilroy needed when they returned to Carton House following Ireland’s stalled Six Nations campaign was car trouble.

Unfortunately for the Ulster and Ireland rugby duo, that is exactly what they encountered.

Their ride back to Belfast, a Vauxhall Astra nicknamed ‘Britney’ [thanks Mike McCarthy], was not going anywhere.

According to Jackson, IRFU President William [Billy] Glynn was on hand to stick the jump leads on and get the car motoring.

Within two hours, the pair were back home.

Jackson, who kicked all 15 points for Ireland in their away defeat to Italy, was delighted to be reunited with one of his best friends:

It was certainly a dog’s life for Ireland as they slumped to just one win from five matches and a fifth place finish.
