Teenager beaten with iron bars in 'paramilitary-style assault' at his home

The 19-year-old required treatment in hospital for his injuries.

DETECTIVES IN NORTHERN Ireland are investigating a violent assault on a teenager.

Police say the 19-year-old was struck with iron bars in what they are calling a ‘paramilitary-style attack’.

He required hospital treatment but was later discharged.

The attack took place at the man’s home in the Kinbayne Avenue area of Greenisland, Co Antrim, at 8.55pm last night.

Detective Sergeant John McKendry said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID at Newtownabbey on the non-emergency number.”

“If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously.”
