Irish tourist hospitalised by his brother calls for prosecution to be dropped

The court heard that Patrick Lyttle will not have any long-term effects from the punch.

AN IRISH TOURIST in Australia who was nearly killed by a single punch from his brother has called for the prosecution to be dropped.

Patrick Lyttle told reporters outside a Sydney court that he loves his brother and wants “to go home”.

Barry Lyttle is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his brother after he allegedly punched the 31-year-old after a minor disagreement outside a nightclub in the Kings Cross area on January 3.

The 31-year-old spent a week in a coma before making a sudden improvement in mid-January.

He said that he is “very well” and wants to “move forward”, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

“We’re just hoping that in a couple of weeks this can all get a whole lot better and we can go home as a family.”

Barry and their father Oliver were visiting Patrick in Australia when the incident happened.

Barry’s defence team reportedly told the court that Patrick would not experience any lasting effects from the punch.
