You'll be seeing a lot more of Paul Scholes on your TV screens this season

The former Manchester United midfielder has signed up with BT Sport AND ITV as a pundit.

PAUL SCHOLES IS making the move into football punditry after both BT Sport and ITV today announced that the ex-England midfielder will be  joining them this season.

The 39-year-old retired as a Manchester United player for the second time last year after 718 senior appearances and worked as a coach under Ryan Giggs during his short spell as caretaker manager.

New United boss Louis van Gaal has suggested that there is a role for him at the club but a decision on his future has yet to be made.

Scholes, who was famously shy during his playing days, has also been cutting his teeth in the media recently with a Paddy Power column as well as a couple of appearances on Sky Sports.

And today, BT Sport announced that he has signed a four-year deal to appear on their panel for Premier League matches.

Grant Best, Senior Channel Executive Producer, BT Sport, said: “Paul has proved himself to be a forthright and astute pundit since he hung up his boots.

His recent opinions have been every bit as tenacious as his tackling on the pitch. It is fantastic that we have been able to sign up a legend like Paul to offer a unique insight, based on a record of consistent success at the highest level of the game.”

On top of that, Scholes will be a regular pundit on ITV’s Champions League coverage from the group stages onwards.

“Having won the competition twice with Manchester United and played a key role in their European campaigns from the 1990s until his retirement in 2013, Paul brings his phenomenal expertise and insight to our team and we’re all looking forward to working with him this season,” said Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport.
