Pensioner suffers cuts to his face and a hand injury after being assaulted in his home

A quantity of cash and other items were taken during the burglary.

A MAN IN his 70s was left with cuts to his faces after he was assaulted in his Tyrone home during a burglary.

His hand was also injured in the incident.

The PSNI said a number of men forced their way into the pensioner’s home in the Dunnyboe Road area of Dunamanagh at roughly 8.30pm last night.

Several items, including a sum of money, were stolen from the house.

Detectives are investigating a link between a dark-coloured Seat car used as a getaway car, and a burn out Seat Toledo, registration plate CKZ 8880, found burnt out off the Letterkenny Road in Derry.

Shortly before 10pm, the car was reported to have been acting suspiciously in car park at Victoria Court.

Police are appealing to anyone with witnessed the burglary, or saw the car, to contact them.
