Kildare defender 'devastated' at missing club's big All-Ireland final day in Croke Park

Peter Kelly is sidelined through injury as Two Mile House get set for next Sunday’s junior decider.

KILDARE DEFENDER PETER Kelly is ‘devastated’ to be missing out on his club’s All-Ireland final in Croke Park next Sunday afternoon.

Kelly’s club Two Mile House become the first side from Kildare to feature in an All-Ireland club football final when they face Roscommon outfit Fuerty.

But Lilywhites player Kelly will watch on from the sidelines due to a knee injury and teammate Niall Browne has revealed the huge disappointment that Kelly is experiencing.

“He’s devastated by it. He’d an operation booked in for November and he put it off so he could represent us. He played with a lot of painkillers in the county championship games.

“But there was complications with it so he couldn’t play. He’s devastated, he’s a massive loss to us, a huge loss.

“Peter was on the sideline up in Emyvale and you could see by him the mental strain on him that he was dying to get out there. He probably ran more in that game than usual, up and down the sideline.

“We spoke about it when he announced (that he was injured), that he was probably worth 15% of our team but maybe if we all upped it, then we could drive it on and certainly do him justice.”
