Plax's back: Burress marks his return with a touchdown

WATCH: The Jets’ wide receiver hooks up with Mark Sanchez for a 26-yard touchdown.

AFTER ALMOST THREE years out of the game, Plaxico Burress marked his return to American football last night with a 26-yard touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 34-year-old, best remembered for his Superbowl-winning play against the Patriots in 2008, was making his first start since joining the New York Jets last month, and his score helped Rex Ryan’s men to their first preseason victory, 27-7.

Burress, who has over 500 career receptions for almost 8,000 yards, hasn’t played since November 2008 when he accidentally shot himself in the leg while in a New York nightclub. He was later found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon and sentenced to 20 months in prison before being released in June of this year.

He obviously hasn’t forgotten how to catch a ball though…
