According to FM104 Sport reporter Darren Cleary, who was passing by the scene:

About 50 fans from one side descended on Caulfields hotel and smashed their way into it.

He said around ten or twenty supporters of the opposing side came out of the hotel to respond to the men.

“The went into a mil. There was about 70 people involved at the height”.

Cleary said that fans were outside the pub armed with bottles, glasses and chairs.

He said that two gardaí on bikes had arrived at the scene shortly after it happened, and that around half of the men had “taken off running” again, away from the hotel.

Another witness said that it was a “very bad disturbance”. They said the fight happened outside many people’s houses, some elderly, with many afraid their windows would be smashed in.

It’s believed there was considerable damage caused to hotel property.
