Premier League review: More woe for Kean and Coyle

Blackburn and Bolton remain adrift at the bottom of the Premier League, while Everton came from behind to steal a draw against Norwich City.

THE PRESSURE ON Blackburn manager Steve Kean increased as his side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers West Brom at Ewood Park on Saturday.

The Baggies took the lead through a magnificent James Morrison volley, before Scott Dann appeared to save the day for Rovers when he prodded home from close range after good work from his fellow defender Christopher Samba.

However, Roy Hodgson’s team had the last word and it came from Peter Odemwingie, whose 89th minute strike left Blackburn just one point off the bottom of the table on 19 points.

Propping up the league is Bolton, who suffered their 12th defeat of the season to Fulham and saw the pressure increase on beleaguered manager Owen Coyle. Bryan Ruiz teed up Clint Dempsey to open the scoring, before the Costa Rican produced a sublime piece of skill to chip Jussi Jaaskelainen and make it 2-0 at the end.

Fulham rise to 14th in the table, just one point behind local rivals QPR.

Stoke produced a dominant second half performance to defeat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux. Mick McCarthy’s side had actually taken the lead through a Stephen Hunt penalty, Jonathan Woodgate having fouled Matt Jarvis, before a second half free kick by Robert Huth deflected in off Kevin Doyle and Peter Crouch nodded in a cross from Matthew Etherington.

Newcastle’s recent struggles continued as they were held to a scoreless draw by Swansea at St James’ Park. Both Demba Ba and Fabricio Coloccini hit the post for the home side.

Finally, Everton came from behind to grab a point against Norwich at Goodison Park. Grant Holt had put Paul Lambert’s side ahead – following good work by Steve Morison – before Toffees substitute Royston Drenthe fed Leon Osman and the veteran midfielder steered the ball past John Ruddy.
