WENDELL LIRA’S GOAL against Atletico-GO (see above) has upset Lionel Messi’s strike (see below) to win the 2015 Puskas Award for best goal.
The Brazilian journeyman, who was playing for Goianesia at the time, also overcame competition from Alessandro Florenzi, whose fantastic strike for Roma against Barcelona (see below) was nominated alongside Messi and Lira.
The Puskas Award, which Ireland’s Stephanie Roche was nominated for last year, is decided by a public vote.
