RACING METRO MAY be struggling to get their attacking game going so far this season, but their forward pack is gradually starting to show real power. That was highlighted by the phenomenal maul against the Scarlets in last weekend’s Heineken Cup action.
After Juandré Kruger claimed the Scarlets re-start, the Racing forwards went to work, setting up the maul and rumbling forward for quite astonishing gains. 65 metres later, the Scarlets cut their losses and dragged the maul down. Unfortunately, Jonny Sexton failed to reward his forwards’ excellent work from the resulting place kick.
The game finished in a 26-26 draw, leaving Racing second in Pool 4 after two rounds of European action. Their focus is now back on the Top 14 and the Parisian derby against Stade Français on Saturday night.
