She also starred next to Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Patch Adams.

ELLEN ALBERTINI DOW, the feisty character actress best known for her rendition of ‘Rapper’s Delight’ in The Wedding Singer has died. She was 101.

Her agent, Juliet Green, confirmed that Dow died on Monday.

Dow stole the show in many of her movies, never afraid to push the envelope, such as with her foul-mouthed character roles in films like Wedding Crashers  and Road Trip.

The veteran actress also warmed our hearts in the movie, Patch Adams, appearing with Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Dow’s numerous television credits include Seinfeld, ER, and Will and Grace.

The actress studied theatre and dance for most of her life, even studying mimes in Paris with Marcel Marceau and Jacques LeCoq.

She didn’t begin her on-screen acting career until she was in her 70s, when she got her first job on The Twilight Zone.

Dow was married to her husband, Eugene Dow, for 53 years before he died in 2004.

“She was always amazed and delighted to be recognised when strangers approached her on the street to tell her how much they loved her,” said Green in an email.

“She was fiercely independent and hated when anyone tried to treat her like an old lady.”
