Redknapp in hot water over gesture to Rovers fans

The Spurs boss allegedly aimed a clenched fist at supporters who had been verbally abusing him during the game.

TOTTENHAM MANAGER HARRY Redknapp will discover on Friday whether he faces disciplinary action from UEFA after allegedly making an offensive gesture aimed at Shamrock Rovers fans.

Speaking in the aftermath of Spurs’ 4-0 defeat of Rovers, Redknapp told reporters he had nothing to apologise for: “Did I make an ‘obscene’ gesture? No,” he said.

However, a UEFA official said that the organisation will still investigate the incident, after Redknapp allegedly aimed a clenched fist at supporters who had been taunting him:

“We have not received the delegate’s report and the referee’s report yet.

“We will have a look at those to see if it is mentioned in there. They have to be submitted within 48 hours of the game, but they should be here on Friday afternoon.”

Redknapp, who faces a possible touchline suspension if punished, said he was disappointed with the treatment he received.

“I have spent enough time in Ireland to know what lovely people they are.

“If you go and meet them afterwards they are probably lovely people. But they get together and shout a load of nonsense and that is football.”

Tottenham failed to progress past the group stages of the Europa League as a result of PAOK failing to beat Rubin Kazan.
