On the Move

Redknapp won’t stand in the way of Gomes exit

Hopefully he’ll move to another English club. We’d miss him if he left.

HEURELHO GOMES LOOKS set to quit White Hart Lane in January after Harry Redknapp confirmed that the out-of-favour keeper is agitating for a move.

The error-prone Brazilian has been dropped to third in the Spurs pecking order since the arrival of Brad Friedel from Aston Villa in the summer.

Gomes might have expected to fight for his place, but that now appears unlikely since Redknapp opted for Carlo Cudicini as the American’s deputy for the last two games.

“He’s not happy and he’s eyeing a January move,” said Redknapp in The Sun, indicating that he wouldn’t stand in the way of a transfer.

If the chance comes for him to play elsewhere, I’m sure he’ll take it.

“I’ve not bombed out Gomes and made him No.3 keeper but we decided Carlo Cudicini would be better on the bench."

When Gomes does move on, Spurs are likely to make a loss on the £8m fee which they paid PSV Eindhoven to secure his services in the summer of 2008.

As a word of friendly advice from TheScore.ie, potential suitors would be well advised to have a look at this video before signing off on any deal.
