Injury Update

Ruddock back in the mix as Leinster announce clean bill of health

Cian Healy came through his return from an ankle injury against Castres with ‘no ill effects’.

LEINSTER COACH MATT O’Connor will have been pleased with the feedback from his medical team following the win in Castres last weekend.

There were no fresh injury problems to report in the aftermath of the 29-22 victory at the Stade Pierre-Antoine, while there is a further boost with the recovery of Rhys Ruddock for the clash against the Ospreys on Friday evening.

Cian Healy came through his surprise return from an ankle injury unscathed and, like all other 22 match-day squad members from last time out, will be available for selection this weekend. Leinster have announced that “the recovery process is going very well” for the squad, despite the fact that several players, including Gordon D’Arcy, sat out today’s training session at UCD.

Ruddock was ruled out of last weekend’s clash due to a “niggling calf injury” but the St. Mary’s club man will be back in the selection mix ahead of the Leinster team announcement at lunchtime on Thursday.

Despite the loss of Sean O’Brien after shoulder surgery, back row options remain strong at the eastern province, meaning the 23-year-old will be keen to resume his impressive form on the blindside.

Leinster will train tomorrow at the RDS as their preparation for their final game in Pool 1 of the Heineken Cup continues.
