RTÉ’S LONG-SERVING punditry trio of Eamon Dunphy, Liam Brady and John Giles won’t be together for Friday’s crunch Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland in Glasgow.

An RTÉ spokesperson confirmed today to TheScore.ie that Richie Sadlier will be providing the analysis of the clash from Parkhead with Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady. But there’s no great mystery as to why Giles is not part of the panel and Sadlier is included.

“The panel is chosen for each match on a case-by-case basis with lots of different criteria – availability, particular expertise in a team or match etc.

“It’s certainly not the case that Richie’s ‘in’ for John, Richie brings his own knowledge and experience to every panel he’s on.”

Darragh Maloney presents the coverage of the game from RTÉ’s studios in Montrose along with the three lads while George Hamilton and Ronnie Whelan will be commentating the game from Glasgow. Coverage starts at 7pm with kick-off at 7.45pm.
