9 pictures celebrating Roger Federer's 300 weeks as World Number 1

The Swiss tennis star climbed to the top of the rankings in 2004 and has dominated them ever since.

THE RELEASE OF the latest Men’s ATP Tour tennis rankings today come with the confirmation that Swiss sensation Roger Federer is number one again.

It is the 300th week that the 31-year-old has top the rankings since he first made an appearance there, after winning the Australian Open, in 2004.

He was defeated in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters on Saturday but it was not enough to cost him his number one crown.

There have been some challengers along the way and some brave and talented souls have even kept the throne warm for the Fed Express but Federer keeps coming back for more.

Here is a pictorial homage from TheScore.ie to one of the game’s greatest ever talents.
