Ronald Koeman stands firm and says Schneiderlin's not going anywhere

Want-away midfielder is expected to feature for the club in a friendly with Bayer Leverkusen on 9th August.

NEW SOUTHAMPTON MANAGER Ronald Koeman has reiterated the club’s stance that Morgan Schneiderlin will not be sold.

Speaking to BBC Radio, the Dutch coach said:

He is a player of Southampton and will continue to be.”

Earlier this week, it seemed set that the 24 year-old would join the mass exodus of players from St. Mary’s and complete a switch to Tottenham. But when Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger publicly stated that both Schneiderlin and striker Jay Rodriguez would remain at the club, the Frenchman took to Twitter to express his frustration and disappointment.

Koeman has confirmed he’s spoken to Schneiderlin about the tweet and that the midfielder has been warned as to his future conduct.

I spoke with him about that tweet. Always you have to keep that type of information inside and we spoke about that and his situation.”

Schneiderlin is expected to return to the side for a friendly clash against German side Bayer Leverkusen on 9th August.

Regarding possible transfers, Koeman said he hopes certain deals will be completed imminently while hinting at more activity in the weeks leading up to the start of the new Premier League season, including a possible swap deal involving Dani Osvaldo and Inter’s Saphir Taider.

We hope to do that (transfers) this weekend and then we have two weeks still to prepare for the Liverpool game. We are looking for the best for Osvaldo and the best for the club. Taider brings quality and we need that. We need competition in the squad as well and that will be good.”
