Rosenborg sack manager ahead of Sligo Rovers second leg

Alan Keane and Danny North have a lot to answer for.

NORWEGIAN CLUB ROSENBORG have sacked manager Per Joar Hansen just three days before they face Sligo Rovers again.

The Bit O’Red scored a historic 2-1 win in the away leg of their second round qualifier last week, putting Rosenborg on the brink of an early Europa League exit.

The defeat was the final blow for Hansen, who returned in 2012 for a second spell in charge of the Trondheim club.

His last game in charge was a 1-0 win at home to Sogndal yesterday which left Rosenborg second in the Tippeligaen, nine points behind leaders Molde.

In a statement this morning, Rosenborg said they will take time before appointing Hansen’s replacement and plan to appoint an interim coach shortly.
