Roy Keane shells out for 1966 World Cup programme, signed by Bobby Moore

And he wore a corduroy jacket to a celebrity quiz in Manchester last night.

FORMER IRELAND AND and Manchester United skipper Roy Keane is, it seems, a fan of England’s World Cup-winning captain, Bobby Moore.

The Corkman was amongst sporting figures like Ricky Hatton and John Barnes who took part in a charity quiz event at Lancashire County Cricket Club to mark 20 years since Moore’s death last night.

And Keane left with a 1966 match programme, signed by the West Ham icon, according to reports which suggest he paid £3,000 for the souvenir.

CancerResearchUK confirmed that Keane did buy a lot in the charity auction but refused to say what exactly he picked up and for how much.

Anyone who remembers Keane arguing with Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson during a players versus staff table quiz some years ago will hope ITV’s Clive Tyldesley – emcee for the night — set questions which were perceived to be fair by Keane.

The proceeds went to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
