Ireland U21 international puts in man-of-the-match display on home Rotherham debut

Ryan Manning bagged an assist for Rotherham who came up short against Hull City.

IRELAND U21 INTERNATIONAL Ryan Manning produced a man-of-the-match display on his home debut for Rotherham United, as his side suffered a 3-2 loss to Hull City in the Championship.

The Galway native, who recently moved to Rotherham on a on a season-long loan from QPR, supplied an assist for Richard Wood’s 16th minute goal from a corner.

That score gave Rotherham the lead but Hull responded through Jackson Irvine on 28 minutes before Fraizer Campbell edged Hull in front on the stroke of half-time.

Irvine struck again shortly after the restart to give the Tigers a two-goal cushion, and while Jamie Proctor found the net to bring Rotherham back into the contest, Hull managed to hold on and secure the victory.

Meanwhile, Richard Keogh captained Frank Lampard’s Derby County, as they scored a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, while Callum O’Dowda was sprung from the bench as Bristol City stormed to a 3-0 win over QPR.

Ireland’s Conor Shaughnessy was an unused sub for Leeds in their 2-2 draw against Swansea City.
